Newcastle Metro Haymarket Station
Working with designers Gardiner Richardson and Nexus, Tyne & Wear’s Passenger Transport Executive, Wood&Wood manufactured the station signage for Newcastle Metro’s newly opened Haymarket Station. As the station is underground, the deepest station on the Metro System, all signs were built to a high specification and are Class 0 fire rated.
With an expected 6 million passengers a year, the signage scheme comprises a range of wayfinding and platform information signs. The platform signs were constructed using honeycomb core aluminium panels and extruded stainless steel with suspended fixings so they are able to withstand the impact of the train speeds. They complement the internal vitreous signs bearing the stations yellow and black livery consistently carried across all mediums.
