Birmingham Airport

Wood&Wood have recently created signage for Birmingham Airport’s new “One Terminal”. The signs are designed using the Airport’s new identity which represents the global connectivity from Birmingham  which connects to over 400 different places worldwide.

The 3-metre diameter logo device was created as four pieces with stainless steel cut outs and joined seamlessly. The high level letters are manufactured in built up stainless steel with opaque acrylic and coloured vinyl applied.  Energy efficient LED illumination lights up the striking blue sign at night.

As the signs are located above the entrance they were installed within a fixed timeframe keeping disruption to minimum in this busy airport environment. Our skilled installation team used specialist equipment to raise the signs and then fix them at a high level internally by bolting them through the glass structure. This is the first phase of the airport’s development ahead of the runway extension due to be operational in 2014.
