Aviva Stadium
Wood&Wood Signs won the contract to manufacture and install the signage at the new Aviva Stadium based on their strong credentials in delivering large-scale projects to the sports sector. The redevelopment of the former Lansdowne Road Stadium was a prestigious project, bringing the world’s oldest international rugby ground up to today’s standards.
The total signage scheme comprises over 7,500 signs designed to complement the clean clear lines of the building and reinforce the sense of space and its premium status. Working with architects Populous and Scott Tallon Walker, Wood & Wood’s technical expertise ensured each sign was fit for purpose and true to its design.” We provided material samples and prototypes to ensure the design intent was achieved,” commented Chris Palmer, Wood&Wood’s Managing Director.
The building signage accentuates the organic structure with 1.9 metres tall “AVIVA STADIUM” letters manufactured in aluminium with polycarbonate acrylic, faced with blue vinyl and fitted with LED illumination. This provides strong branding both during the day and at night.
Installing large scale lettering onto the exterior of a curved building required Wood&Wood to design and manufacture a complex mounting structure as each letter needs to be positioned at a different level and a different angle in order to appear in a straight line.
"Wood&Wood's manufacturing expertise was essential to this complex signage project. Working with the architectural team they were excellent in translating the initial designs to create sign products that delivered at every level. We were delighted with their responsive attitude throughout" Michael Greene, Project Director, Aviva Stadium now complete, the stunning curved structure holds an iconic position on Dublin’s skyline.
