Whilst Wood&Wood Design worked alongside PSD:Fitch to translate visual design intent into a viable end solution, Wood&Wood Signs researched and tested appropriate materials, built prototypes and proposed alternative design solutions.
Six months later, we won the manufacturing tender. Production challenges included colour matching the ‘Liverpool Purple’ in a vitreous enamel and a powder coat. We developed a new reconstituted Portland stone composite that met the necessary moulding and weight requirements.
Curved vitreous enamelled panels were developed for incorporation into the aerofoil shaped wayfinding signage.
As City of Culture 2008, the original programme is now being enhanced by a further rollout to meet the demands of the expanding cultural city.
