Bognor Regis

Demanding Coastal Signage

Client Arun District Council

Bognor Regis is a well-known traditional seaside resort in West Sussex, England. Its coastal assets; town centre amenities; good public transport and home to Butlins Holiday Camp draws 385,000 visitors a year to the area.

With a major program of town centre regeneration reaching completion, Arun District Council recognised the need and economic value of attracting the many thousands of Butlins Holiday Camp residents to visit the town and explore the many attractions and amenities on offer.

Wood and Wood were asked by wayfinding consultancy FWDesign, to provide several tall wide monoliths constructed in 316 grade stainless steel, double sided with digitally printed vinyl graphics, reverse applied to toughened low iron glass. The frames were to have the location names brushed and shot peened on the sides.  Sunken frame bases with stainless kick plates finished off the aesthetic contemporary look.

Manufacture, despatch and installation was expedited by Wood and Wood to fit in with the reduced timescale requested by the Council.
